Actually there are quite a few funk and rock lessons on PianoWithWillie right now. Right now there are 31 rock and 27 funk lessons that are on PianoWithWillie.
New funk and rock lessons will be coming out on our FunkPianoLessons.com and RockPianoLessons.com sites respectively.
We will not be duplicating lessons. This means we will not be taking PianoWithWillie funk or rock lessons and moving them over to these new sites. These new sites will have 100% new content.
Why are we creating these genre-specific sites?
I’ve found that some students prefer to focus on a specific style of music (i.e rock, funk, etc.) and are not interested in the other genres, 330 lessons and 4,000+ lesson chapters found at PianoWithWillie. This is why I’ve started creating these genre-specific sites, or “microsites” as we call them inhouse.
New lessons will be constantly added to PianoWithWillie. In fact, in the courses area, you can now find many new lessons on chords, progressions and many other topics.October 14, 2015 at 6:54 pm #998
OK – I get it. There will be no new rock or funk lessons on PianoWithWillie.October 14, 2015 at 7:25 pm #999
I want to correct this before someone else gets confused. I am not saying that there will not be any new rock or funk lessons on PianoWithWillie.
What I’m saying is that FunkPianoLessons.com and RockPianoLessons.com will have unique lessons that focus SOLELY on that style. The lessons on those sites will not be replicated on PianoWithWillie.
I do have some new rock songs planned for PianoWithWillie actually.October 25, 2015 at 12:44 pm #1015
What about Jazz, will there be a new separate site for that? Or will PWW continue to include Jazz as well?October 25, 2015 at 1:39 pm #1017
Thanks Justin for your question.
PianoWithWillie will continue to add Jazz and other styles. It’s best to think of these other sites as specialty sites that help students focus on a specific area of interest. They do not replace PianoWithWillie, but rather augment it.
For some students who are ONLY interested in a specific style like funk, FunkPianoLessons.com is the obvious choice because they can stay focused on that style.
However, for students who want to expand their piano playing as a whole, PianoWithWillie is the clear choice with the multiple styles and thousands of videos.
Is anyone interested in a Jazz-Only site? If so, what would you want to see in that site? Beginner stuff or more advanced?December 3, 2015 at 11:53 pm #1217
I’d like to see more advanced lessons on funk. It seems that the new site funk piano has a focus on an beginner / intermediate level. Instead on piano with willie, funk lessons looked focused on a target more advanced.
Furthermore, it would be interesting, in my opinion, a focus on the arrangement. I mean, often when I play in a band I don t have many partner, becauese of pub and club pay us less and less. So we are forced to cut brass, guitar, etc. and play in 3, 4 max 5 guys. If we want to play funky stuff, we have to re arrange the song. It would very nice to see how you’d do an arrangement…December 8, 2015 at 3:46 pm #1256
Thanks Marco, that’s good to hear. We will be doing more funk lessons for sure. I’ll add that to the list.
